Notes on the "New World Order" - January 2026

As I mentioned in my recent post dated 11/04/2025 the rationale behind the new world order, namely a return to Imperialism via a global, two-tier system of countries, is being played out, actuel, via Trump's latest manifestations of despotism exhibited by a leader of a democratic country.

This follows suit with Russian and Chinese militaristic operations and political posturing on an international stage that threatens or, with the instance of Ukraine, the practice of taking over exterior, sovereign countries to subsume them into their growing empires.

As in the recent case of the Unites States invasion of Venezuela and consequent removal of leader Nicolás Maduro, the underlying morality is paradoxical however the principle motivations appear to be self-interest. There remains a moral ambiguity as Maduro was an authoritarian leader who manipulated the democratic process for his own advantage and repressed the Venezuelan people. The principle motivations behind the invasion of Venezuela seem to be;

- Venezuela's oil reserves and minerals. Overt profiteering by the USA.

- An extension of the USA's reach via inroads into Venezuelan infrastructure and a subsequent increase of power - nation building.

- Political disparity with Maduro - at least superficially, following opposing left/right rhetoric. However both leaders exhibit dictatorial leanings.

- Potential power gained for the USA by furthering their influence by threatening/taking over/asserting influence and/or increasing administrative involvement in other South American countries. Extension of the USA empire via a mixture of invasion, military action, annexation and soft power.

I am inclined to perceive Trump's motivations for Imperialism as a manifestation of his fears about losing the next USA election and returning to face court action that lists a number of accusations involving his last presidency, relations with prostitutes and his business practice. There is also a potential for the Epstein files to make an entrance into legal proceedings, although I have no evidence for this. To gather more power would make it more difficult to get Trump to face a jury. If Trump contrives a dictatorship within the USA, as he attempted towards the end of his last presidency, then his presidential immunity from prosecution would continue indefinitely.

Trump's enduring relationship with Putin is well known and accusations of both business and, more recently, political favours that align with Russia's agenda are an ongoing speculation. This invites questions about a potential advantage to Putin and the Russian political leadership. If they are finding a political advantage in the USA's nation-building, then what is it? Is it simply that it appears to condone their invasion of Ukraine (in a tacit way) or is there a more fundamental advantage for Russia? Maybe one that is inherently interlinked with USA policy and political practice?

Ultimately, the New World Order has been made possible by developments in IT, that accelerated during the COVID Pandemic. The intrinsic perception of anonymity and apparent aloofness from others has resulted in an essentially, misanthropic position via representations rather than actuality.

If we can view people as avatars, representations rather than experiencing actual, real-life contact with them then the consequences of belligerent or devastating actions are more detached from a sense of morality.

The impact of the COVID Pandemic left populations anxious and economies/infrastructure weakened. This presents a strategic advantage to invasion and annexing exterior countries. Essentially it manifests as an opportunity for Imperialism to re-emerge.

At the time of writing, the threat of the USA annexing Greenland via military action appears to be coming to a crescendo. Simultaneously, the threat of military action against Iran who are currently experiencing internal unrest is also looking increasingly likely.

Amongst all this chaos, one thing remains clear - multiple episodes of military action further destabilizes a turbulent, nervous and fractured world. We should consider negotiation as the first point of conflict resolution and military action when all other mechanisms have been exhausted. We should be increasing wealth and power through trade, healthy competition and negotiations - countries working in co-operation rather than a primacy of Imperialism. The lessons of history shouldn't be ignored. The wisdom of history isn't a lofty or irrelevant, liberal and intellectual concern. It's a commonsensical, mature approach that elicits peace and mutual respect in everyday practical realities. These lessons were learnt from raw experience. We needn't make the same mistakes again.
