Vespers (14)

many of the repertoire
gone hungry why is night
another time zone
the canary pounces on
a stick of gristle

faun line somewhere felt
prints cost hominy
this room includes
a punctuation shouts
maim into recall
coded language
animation givens

planks of prayer smoked
turn our thoughts to
riveting expressions
for another who in need
wants to have read
a self-mourned script

when balance kismet
there are rudiments
of how skin takes in
night air
also scrap
books metal continents
on maps held
in excrow

whose property is this
display things start
to slip the story
becomes who did
while the people
and spokespeople
watch and talk

air conditioning prolongs the sound of storm within the confines of this house.
within the confines of this house are fine slabs of absorbent wood.
fine slabs of absorbent wood help one remember why the quiet here makes sense.
the quiet here makes sense always a blessing is in process.

a blessing is in progress that confirms about the lake all that we bring here.
all that we bring here concerns portability that goes with feeling.
portability that goes with feeling shapes us into better beings.
better beings prepare for better lives shouldered by early versions of perfection.

early versions of perfection help an individual find sleep.
an individual finds sleep after incessent seeming daylight.
incessent seeming daylight comes to fruition that remains half small.
fruition that remains half small epitomizing commitment distinguished from indulgence.

commitment distinguished from indulgence paves the avenues.
the avenues define how we are viewed by others living on this block.
others living on this block whisper to pictures of narcissus.
pictures of narcissus are the only moment to improve on the original.

if I write
I will remember all

Yell Saccani

Occasionally I find an artist whose work fascinates and baffles me. Yell Saccani is one such artist. I have never seen anything quite like Yell's work, it strikes me as very original. If I was an art critic or historian in the West, I may describe Yell's work as "Outsider Art, composed using digital means with an accent on the macabre" or something similar. Of course, this labelling is rendered completely irrelevant when attempting to comprehend and appreciate art by Yell or similar artists from outside the West. Yell's art and work by other, similar artists will lead us to rethink our conception of art and art history in the West.
