from THE DAYLIGHT SECTIONS (98)

whether verbs fulfill their obligations
we enorme with them according to
return of service

lake effect defines each of our mornings
violets receive a brush of wind
and the resistance soon defrays some cost

a lost event resides within mentation
yes say some who have been listening
we have been listing in the wind

some of the siloes offer seeds and birds' nests
bake in sunlight there are finer lakes here
having fingerings nobody learns

the earning power of description vacates
even the most open minds for now these
watermelon rinds furnish the scape

of how we lived before we knew and how
we often viewed ourselves without conviction
there were crayons there was water
