Vespers (16)

The child of the infant man
construed another path
in footsteps
over driveway moss
slick, rained upon
by harsh rain.

Syllables
rolled across.
They did not work
in daylight.
Did not mesh.
These droplets of Platonic
rain across a moss-slick surface
of a place to drive home.
Close to vegetation that requires
buckets of rain,
consistent rain. Rain
you can count on.
Rain joining other rain.
