from THE DAYLIGHT SECTIONS (74)

from relish comes
a faint wall
pacing prayer with
leash aforethought
tiny little day
on pavement slim
the company needs bread
and help only substaction
is a wave of fluctuation
in the ample eyelight
shucking tin sound
and connotive evidence
the word no and the speed
of fallen weather
motioning to surface
that the incidence
of stasis compensates
for meaning as a fragrance
and a sifted way
of lifting off
the dried stain
from first cloth
